My family set roots in Ridgewood in 2003, and calling this Village home has been a dream come true.
Our town's community spirit inspired me to help launch the Ridgewood Lunar Festival, a cultural celebration for the entire Village, and create the Ridgewood Asian-American Pacific Islander Alliance. My public service includes two terms on the Ridgewood Board of Education (BOE) from 2020 to 2024. As Chair of the Negotiations Committee, I led the settlement of the teacher union contract before its expiration - the first time that had happened in 18 years. During my tenure, the district's rankings improved, the math curriculum was revised, and later start times were introduced at the high school. In every year of my service, the school tax increases were held to 2% or less, even as programming expanded.
My professional experience spans management consulting at Bain & Company, business development at NBC Network, and equity research at Merrill Lynch investment bank. At NBC, I received the NBC Recognition Award. At Merrill Lynch investment, I was part of an equity research team ranked #1 by Institutional Investor.
I earned a BA magna cum laude from Brown University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. While at Brown, I was selected to study at Pembroke College, Oxford University, which I now represent as a global Alumni Ambassador.
I also produced “Down the Line,” a documentary examining New Jersey’s county-line primary ballot design. Today, I am a founding member of the Korean Community of Ridgewood (KCR) and board President of a statewide Asian-American advocacy organization.
In my free time, I am often found walking around town with Mars, a spunky Havanese.
