My family set roots in Ridgewood in 2003.
I serve on the Ridgewood Board of Education (BOE), finishing my second elected term this year. On the BOE, I have held leadership positions, including President and Vice President, and am recognized as a Master Board Member by the state board association. As Chair of the Negotiations Committee, I led the settlement of the teacher union contract before its expiration for the first time in 18 years. The Ridgewood school's advancements during my tenure include: improved rankings, change in the math curriculum, implementation of later start times at the high school, and optimized budgets that expanded programming while respecting statutory taxpayer caps.
I started my career in management consulting at Bain & Company, then moved on to business development at NBC Network where I received the NBC Recognition Award, and to Merrill Lynch investment bank in equity research as a member of a team that was ranked #1 by both Institutional Investor and Greenwich Associates. Currently, I manage private ventures while channeling my civic energy to public service and chosen causes.
I earned a BA magna cum laude from Brown University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. While at Brown, I was selected to study at Pembroke College, Oxford University. Today, I represent Pembroke as a Global Alumni Ambassador.
In addition, I am a co-founder of the Ridgewood Asian-American Pacific Islander Alliance and Ridgewood Lunar Festival, a cultural celebration for the entire community. I also produced a documentary film, “Down the Line,” which examines issues associated with New Jersey’s county-line primary ballot design.
In my free time, I am often found walking in my neighborhood with Mars, a spunky Havanese.
